Here We Move Again

We bought this house in August 2010, and here we are selling in January 2012.  It was a great house here in Katy.  We have 4 bedrooms, an office, a game room, 4 and a half bathrooms, a really great kitchen, formal dining room, and an adequate garage.  This house is 2778 square feet, and we just need a little more room.  We're not going far, the plan is to just move a few miles from here, but the kids are getting big, and we are starting to feel on top of each other.  But worst of all, they are building an apartment complex right behind us, so its time to go.
Because of the said apartments, we were nervous that we wouldn't be able to sell for a long time.  Mom is our realtor, and we were prepared to be on the market a long time.  But for some reason, we were blessed once again with a quick sell, a really quick on.  The house went on the market on a Friday night, and we had 2 offers Sunday.  Wow!  All that hard work paid off.  We had tile cleaned, painted dirty spots, removed all personal pictures, rented a storage unit and cleared out ALL toys and junk that could go.  So here we are, set to close on February 29th, and no house to move into!
For my own journaling purposes, I wanted to blog about this home we lived in as our first house in Katy, Texas.

We added this slate back porch the first summer we were here.  There wasn't much porch in the back, and we like to have a place to barbecue and sit.

I loved this brick front porch.  As much as I wish the kids would play in the backyard where there is a fence, they tend to be in the road riding bikes and scooters most of the time.

This was our first true 2-story house (the one is Bartlesville was a 1.5 story).  And I wouldn't go back.  It's a pain to go up and down stairs sometimes, but the separation of space for us and the kids is great.

I loved this kitchen. There was tons of counter space, and more cupboards than I could fill.  It was perfect for entertaining.

A whole wall of windows was a plus when we bought the house, but then they needed curtains.  Thank goodness mom lives close and could do that for me.  One day I'll learn how to sew basic things like this.(well, maybe.)

When we moved here, the kids were so bummed to leave Bartlesville, so I promised them fun rooms painted to their liking.  Jaxson's was probably my favorite.

But I did like Shaye's stripes.  She loves green...

And my sweet little girls had a purple butterfly room.

The best thing about living here is probably the neighbors.  Jaxson has 3 boys his age right on our street. Every day after school he throws his backpack and is out playing for hours.  It will definitely be hard for him to leave these boys behind.  Hopefully the next street will be full of kids as well, and maybe a few girls for Shaye!

You guys are pros at selling houses! Living in Nevada right now has made it impossible to sell! Ours has been on the market for 2 1/2 years now! I love the house and I miss brick houses so much! Good luck in finding a new home!

What a beautiful house that you have to move from. No wonder it sold so fast. You can get more for your money in Texas when it comes to homes. I wish we had brick homes up here, but only wood...I think that's due to how cold it gets and the expanding wood gives room to move. Good luck finding another beautiful home, which I know you will :)
