Sleepy Syd

We have really been noticing that Sydnee is getting big lately. It makes me sad that my little toddler is going to be a big girl soon. When Shaye told me she had fallen asleep on the couch watching tv upstairs, I just had to take a picture when I saw how small and sweet she looked. She was just leaning over on her blanket, and finally she looked like a little baby again!

Warrior Dash Weekend

The weekend before Thanksgiving I went to Austin to spend time with some friends from Bartlesville and do a race called the Warrior Dash! It was so fun!! The whole thing! It was great to see a few of my Oklahoma friends, it felt like I hadn't even left, and the race was a blast too. It's a different kind of race, as you will see...

I wish I had pictures during the race. But they are too expensive to buy, so I'm not going to bother. It was a 3.2 mile race with about 12 obstacles along the way. We did things like jump over a row of cars, run downstream in a small river, climb up a cargo net, jump over a fire pit, crawl over hay bails, and slide through a mud pit under barbed wire.

It took us 34 minutes to finish, but it was strictly for fun. There were people stopping on the course taking pictures and playing in the river and just goofing off. There were very few people that were racing for time.

I didn't realize it was on my face so much. I just knew I had to wash my mouth off before I drank my water at the end.

After showering and getting some of the mud out of our ears, we went to dinner and out a little in Austin. We headed home early Sunday, I had to make it back for church at 11. Will are planning to do it again in the Spring, and I can't wait to see more of my friends next time!

Happy Thanksgiving

We hosted Thanksgiving this year for Sam's family. We got out the little bit of Thanksgiving decor I have after Halloween.

And on Thanksgiving Day we did a little bit of everything that you usually do on Thanksgiving. Like visit together...

And eat too much...

Then we were stuffed and our bellies were full.

So as people left we gave each family member a poinsettia to help start the Christmas season.

It was a nice holiday, but the most exciting part about Thanksgiving every year is that it means Christmas is around the corner, and we LOVE the Christmas season!

Our Gratitude Tree

To invite the spirit of Thanksgiving, we have been keeping a Gratitude Tree. Each day we would all write something we were grateful for and attach it to the tree. The kids loved doing it and never missed a day, usually writing several things each day. This is definitely a tradition we will keep going.

On Thanksgiving Day we asked all of our guests to write a few things to add to ours, and before dinner we read all the blessings that had been written down. It was a wonderful reminder of the purpose of Thanksgiving, and an easy way to share some thoughts before dinner.

Turkey Dash

The Katy YMCA hosted a huge race on Thanksgiving Day, the Turkey Dash. I heard there were 3,000 people who participated between the 5k and 1 mile run. This is before the race with my early morning running partners - Michelle Stansel and Brooke Brooks. I finished in 26:10, my personal best. I'm happy with that, but being 11 seconds from being in the 25s made me wish I would have made up those seconds somewhere, maybe next time...

Drapes

I love houses with lots of windows. That has been a big sell on the last couple of houses we have bought. The only problem is then we have to decorate them! In our family room we have 12 foot walls and these windows are almost that tall as well. The model homes have long gorgeous drapes and I knew when we moved in I wanted some like that. So I enlisted the help of my mom, and we took on the project (well, she took on the project and I kept her company - thanks mom!) Of course they're brown, one day I will get away from the neutrals, but for now I just need to get some colorful accents. We love them, they made a huge difference!

The Moments

Even with all the fussing Sydnee has been doing going through her terrible twos, she sure is sweet. For the last few months she has been taking showers. She sings and "cleans" the shower and talks to herself. Its all so cute! She will stay in forever enjoying the water and entertaining herself.

The other day at breakfast I was asking the kids what they were going to put on their Christmas list. Jaxson said, "I want a big tub of ice cream!" To which I responded, "if Santa leaves ice cream it might melt while you are sleeping." But he had a solution, "He can just put it in the freezer and leave a note out for me to find it!" He is clearly a Robinson!
